PRINT TIX HERE For THUS @ Mardi Gras 10-4

Thus is playing Mardi Gras/.JR's again this Saturday night. It's our first Saturday night there so we're opening...get there about 9/9:30. Print your tickets below.

The Other Night

Thus would like to thank Purgatory for having us play with them Saturday night. The sound was excellent, as was the venue. I had a great time playing and then catching the show afterwards. Such a good time, in fact that I left my leather jacket there. Now I have to re-discipline my image somehow. Either way, thanks again for a fun night guys! -M

Shows and Merch

Hey jerks

Just a little news about some new products and upcoming shows. We've got a bunch of shoews coming up in the next few weeks/months. This coming Saturday the 27th Thus will be appearing at the Sandy Bottom in Coventry with Purgatory - an awesome Iron Maiden Tribute. We'll be at Mardi Gras once more on October 4th - we'd like to thank them for giving us a hack at a Saturday night...hopefully you all can make it? On October 17, we're at Jerky's with none other than Penrose and A Faylene Sky - both great bands. We are also in talks with the folks at Snookers to have a Green Room night which Ms. North is sexy - I mean setting up for us. I'm looking into some special merch items for ya'll as in t-shirts, deodorant (it smells like our drummer!), tampons, etc...So keep an eye out. Ultimately, I'd like to have the cd repro'd professionally which I'm really close to doing. The jadcket design is great. As soon as those are in, I'm going to work something out with the head office of Newbury Comics and get us on the shelves...and we will certainly be available on itunes in the near future. So stay with us and we'll stay with you. XOXOXOXOM

Laundry and the Dominant 2 Power chord

Just waiting for work shirts to finish washing...(blog time!)...So I was driving with Pete (THUS drummer) yesterday and I figured it wastime for this guy to experience Zappa. Recently I legally obtained a copy of 'Zappa Plays Zappa', a new live record which does absolute hjustice to Frank, performed by his son Dweezil (someboidy slap Joan Rivers wherever she is please?). We listened to some great tunes; Peaches of Regalia, St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast, The Torture Never Stops, etc. The night before, we'd been discussing the use of power chords with a 2 note (second note in the scale of the key soignature) added on top. These are engaging chords. The use of the 2 note is very useful in music, filling in emotional space without making it feel to dramatic. It turns out Zappa has songs which have 2nd notes on every triad, replacing the 3rd. And it defined his sound. You'll hear some in peches of Regalia if you listen to the whole thing. Funny enough, you'll hear it in songs by artists like Staind to. Mirror Studies, for those of you who were there for it, made immense use of this note. Actually every song they wrote had it. The point is that it's a really useful tool in conveying emotion to a listener. People don't use it often in popluar music, though recently I've heard more. On the other hand, the ones who have cracked the code and found it tend to over use it. If you use this note in your music, my suggestion would be to only use it as 'the eyebrows.' Over sugaring your cake or coffee makes you go UGH. This applies to music to (duh). Just trying to expose a little trick for you songwriters to play with. Later-

Show this week...

Yes, I'm really postoing this at 6 30 in the morning on Monday. I slept for just over two hourts and I feel really refreshed.....probably causeI'm so excited that THUS has finally received the final link in its chain: Adam Sneider (spelling? hah-) New lead guitarist. I'm not going to talk himn up...just know that in order for a guitarist to joiin THUS at this point in time they have to be a real cut above the rest in every way. And Adam is. You'll see...possibly this Thursday night at Nostalgia in Warwick, possibly not...He's still taking the songs in, though by the time our next Mardi Gras date hits in September, he'll be fully assimilated. Yesterday Pete, Adam and I ajourned at THUS top secret headquarters to practice for the second time, just learning Adam the THUS. Walt I'm sure would not care to be at these meetings as they are purely geared toward Adam's proficiency in the tunes. Now that the tunes are sounding the way they are supposed to, we're getting Walt in on the action today...provided he's available. Either way THUS is finally the four piece I guess it was always supposed to be. Fate works in scrumptrilescent ways. Stay tuned for more boring posts by me: M

WELCOME

While the band pushes through a transition period, gearing up for new shows and developing a final lineup, we will keep you in our sphere with this, our new blog. The new drummer, who is neither a robot made out of a trashcan and discarded harley mufflers, nor a temp without the wits to hack THUS, kicks ass. I have reclaimed guitar duties while continuing to sing for theband. The drummer has been of the utmost imortance in my decision for this undertaking. All we need is to find the bassist who will not disrupt the delicate, metaphysical element the drummer and I have manifest together. Thus is not flying at the moment, but we are asking you to put your seats in their full and upright positions as we prepare for takeoff this summer. Be ready come August. THUS sounds better than ever…the was it was always meant to.
